To celebrate World Book Day 2020, children and staff came to school dressed in pyjamas or as a word.  Parents and children had put so much effort into costumes and really used their imagination to think about how they could dress as the word.  We thought you all look amazing!

Each class in Key Stage 2 set up a crime scene in the classroom based on a book familiar to the pupils.  We were absolutely amazed by the creativity of our teachers!  The children loved being detectives and solves the clues which lead them to the book title.  Can you guess who has committed the crime and the title of the book?

In Early Years and Key Stage 1, teachers invited a character from a well known book for tea.  The children had to use the clues to guess who the character was before enjoying tea with them!  Can you guess who came to Blackgates Primary for tea that day?

We also launched the ‘Share a Million Stories’ campaign run by World Book Day organisers.  We shared as many stories as we could in classrooms, at home, to brothers and sisters and our friends. Our teachers shared their favourite stories with pupils and they read extracts from theirs to the class.  We got everyone reading!
